A demagogue is a leader in a democracy who gains popularity by exploiting prejudice and ignorance among the common people, whipping up the passions of the crowd and shutting down reasoned deliberation. Demagogues overturn established customs of political conduct, or promise or threaten to do so.
Often they'll throw a few crumbs to the masses too, whether they be literal crumbs ala roman emporers or a few hundred dollars ala Bush and Trump.
Oops, almost forgot - Trump also tossed in some Play Doh and Paper Towels :bowdown:

Weird. Rasmussen's daily tracking poll has President Trump at 50%, the highest he's been at since last June. His tax cuts are also gaining popularity as people who weren't paying attention are noticing their paychecks are larger
Also, Obama's approval rating was at 45% at this same point in his presidency.
